Product Profile: Fastlane Glassgate® 250

Part of the Fastlane Speedgates range, the Glassgate 250 is a state-of-the art glass barrier turnstile which uses advanced optical tailgate detection technology that aims to ensure that only one person gains access for each authorised card presented. A sleek and stylish choice, the Glassgate 250 can be found securing lobbies, receptions and VIP areas in notable buildings around the globe.

Designed for high pedestrian throughput, the Glassgate 250 has the capability to process up to 60 people per minute. The bi-directional dual glass barriers are designed to work in a normally closed mode and open after a valid card or visitor signal has been presented to allow the authorised user to pass. In the event of other authorised users trying to use the lane the barriers will stay open, even if they are walking in the opposite direction, to keep the flow of traffic moving during peak times. The glass barriers intuitively move away from the authorised person and the familiarity of the ‘door-like’ action of the barrier gives users confidence in operating the system, ensuring quick user acceptance.

The 24 beam IR detection matrix in the Glassgate 250 provides unsurpassed tailgate detection and deterrence, with tailgaters detected following as close as 5mm behind authorised users. The glass barriers close quickly and safely behind an authorised person to deter unauthorised access, with a 2-stage alarm response provided should an unauthorised access attempt be made, sounding an audible alarm followed by a secondary output for a higher security response, for example triggering CCTV or locking doors. The intelligence and accuracy of Fastlane turnstiles enables the system to differentiate between body mass and small objects such as umbrellas etc. This virtually eliminates false alarms and further increases user and guard acceptance, avoiding ‘tune-out’ from excessive false alarms.

The Glassgate 250 also features Fastlane Connect, the ethernet connectability programme from IDL, which allows a fast and secure way to monitor and manage entrance control operation remotely, whether this is onsite or from any location globally, via a secure web-based portal. A detailed remote control facility is also included - using a lane’s web page and operable without additional software via a standard web browser - to provide ‘single visitor’, ‘group access’, ‘card not required’, ‘lane closed’ and ‘barrier free’ commands.

As pleasing to the eye as it is simple and intuitive to use, the Glassgate 250 allows for a flexible approach when you need to combine security requirements with great design, and can be customised in a range of finishes to complement your environment.
